When was Hughes Rental established?

It was founded in 1921 and is still owned by The Hughes family.

Hughes has been renting all types of home entertainment and kitchen appliances since they first became popular in the 1950s

If I place my order today how long can I expect to wait before it is delivered?

Once your application has been successful we will contact you to arrange a delivery date, we aim to contact you within 24-48 hours of your application. Delivery is usually within 1 week.

How long before I know my application has been successful?

We aim to contact all customers within 48 Hours.

If my television or kitchen appliance breaks down how long will I have to wait before I get a service call?

We endeavour to attend to all service calls within 2 working days

What happens if I damage a rented product?

The product will be repaired or replaced if you have taken out the Theft & Accidental Damage Waiver. This costs a little bit extra but covers you for any accidental damage to the product. Please ask our Rental team for more details when you place your order. If you have not taken out the Theft & Accidental Damage Waiver or if your account is in arrears than you are expected to reimburse Hughes for the written down value of the product.

Normally when I place orders over the internet I expect to get third party carriers delivering my order. Can I really expect your own employees to deliver and install my order?

Hughes employees will always deliver your rental goods.

What payment methods do Hughes offer?

All prices quoted on this website are for monthly Direct Debit.

Is there any delivery charge?

No, delivery and installation is free.

What fees are associated with renting other than the monthly fee?

For domestic customers our minimum period of hire is 12 months.

Rental payment is one month in advance and for new customers only, a one off £25 or £35 administration fee is payable (depending on credit status and the type of products you have requested to rent). The prices quoted are for payments made by direct debit; alternative payments methods may be subject to a surcharge. Prices include VAT at 20%.

I wish to cancel my rental agreement and return the goods, how do I go about this?

Until a written notice of termination is given in accordance with our terms and conditions, all contracts continue thereafter for the minimum term at the current rate.

How long are rental agreements?

Rental agreements are 12 month minimum contract.

When can I upgrade?

You are able to upgrade for a new product at the end of the contractual period. Please use “contact us” form to upgrade your item. You may also visit your local store.

Do you credit check me when applying for rental?

The application will be subject to your status and which will include us obtaining your credit file from Experian. You can view your Experian credit report here (fee applies).

What information will be asked of me in the application process?

You need to be over 18 years of age and able to provide address details for the last 3 years in the UK. The actual applicant will need to be present to receive the goods and show an agreed form of photographic ID.

I wish to rent several products for my business is this possible?

We offer commercial rental and currently supply to many businesses the rental of both large screen TV’s and commercial kitchen appliances. Please get in touch for a quote.

I am Student/Unemployed am I able to rent from you?

The application will be subject to your status and which will include us obtaining your credit file from Experian. You can view your Experian credit report here (fee applies).
